- Chrome Music Lab is an amazing digital tool that allows students to learn about music and create their own melodies, rhythms, and songs! If you're not sure where to start, try loading the Song Maker and click the blank spaces to match this picture... then try to make your own!
- Would you like to get better at playing music? It's important to be able to read notes on a staff! Try playing Whack-A-Note to get better and better at recognizing notes on a staff!
- If you have a computer with a keyboard at home, consider trying TypingClub to help your child learn to type without looking! This is one of the most valuable tech skills your child can develop, as it dramatically shortens the time it takes them to create stories, essays, and research papers.
- The National Film Board of Canada has an entire page dedicated to education. If you are seeking videos about a topic of interest for your child, this could be a great resource through which to find some! As with any videos online, please consider screening what they would like to watch to ensure you are comfortable with the content contained within.
- GoNoodle provides great physical activities for children to burn off some energy and stay physically fit even when stuck indoors.
- Just because you are indoors doesn't mean physical education has to stop! Consider playing some of these games while you are stuck inside: - Sock Snowball Fight! Ball up some socks and use them as snowballs in a house-wide free-for-all. Make sure to designate some safe areas so no one is tempted to throw around those family heirlooms! - Painter's Tape Balance! If you have painter's tape, use it to create a balance beam on the floor. Who can tiptoe from one end to the other without falling off? To make it harder, try making several balance beams and see who can jump from one to the other! - Ball and Spoon! Have a relay where you have to carry a small ball on the spoon around the house, then pass the ball to someone else's spoon without touching it with your hands. It's trickier than it sounds!
